Financial Planning

  • THE RETIREMENT DILEMMA -- WILL I HAVE ENOUGH MONEY?

Many clients started relationships with Alpha after their children were settled in college and they became concerned about their retirement issues.

Investments

  • Performance reports often give the "time-weighted return" as one of the many ways to report how the investments are faring. This report is intended to add clarity to the reports.

  • Most fiduciaries of 401(k) plans have a service provider that in some way gives assistance to them concerning plan investment options. Some acknowledge their fiduciary responsibilities; some don't. Does yours?

  • Mike Goodson of RDL Financial writes an entertaining parable comparing the plight of investors to Dorothy's travels in the Wizard of Oz.

Goals and Values

  • One of our primary objectives in the financial planning process is to create a better alignment between your resources and what is most important to you. This cannot happen, of course, unless we know your values. Bringing your financial worth in harmony with your self-worth may take time, but this is a way to begin.

  • Goals give direction to our life. Before you begin the goal setting process, reflect first on what's working well -- include progress, success, insights, completions over the last few months. Do not limit yourself to financial goals. Consider all the areas of your life: personal, professional, balance, free-time, priceless rewards.

The "Tools for Setting Goals" will help us set SMART financial goals:

    • S - Specific
    • M - Measurable
    • A - Achievable
    • R- Realistic
    • T- Time-Bound
